Visual Design

There are many basic concepts that underly the field of design. They are often categorized differently depending on philosophy or teaching methodology. The use of design principles applied to the visual elements is like visual grammar. When children learn art, it is like learning to read and write the language of vision. Visual design is the field of developing visual material to create an experience. Visual design spans the fields of graphic design, illustration, typography, layout, colour theory, iconography, signage, photography, etc. and any medium including online, broadcast, print, outdoor, etc. visual design is concerned with the elements of visual expression and style. It is often an integral step in information design and other communication design disciplines.
